Ways to help

There are so many ways we can help vulnerable families and individuals in our community.

Read more below to find out the different ways that you can make a difference beyond personal donations of food and funds.

Host a food drive

Would your family, school, or organization like to hold a food drive for us? If so, please refer to the following steps:

  1. Let us know you’re planning a food drive. Email the Volunteer Coordinator to discuss the details.
  2. Collect our most needed items found on our Shopping List.
  3. Drop off the donations at our Warehouse during our office hours or email the Volunteer Coordinator to arrange for a pickup during our office hours.
  4. Please pack the donations in shopping bags or small boxes that are easy to lift. If you need boxes, please email the Volunteer Coordinator.

Amazon toiletry drive

We are in need of toiletry items for the families we serve.

You can help by purchasing toiletry items like shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, body wash, etc. through our Amazon toiletry drive.

Support our seasonal programs

The Back to School Program is on now. This year’s program will provide only quality school bags and lunch bags. All other supplies are now provided within classrooms by the school boards.

You can help by purchasing backpacks and lunch boxes through our Amazon Wishlist.

Corporate sponsorship

Team Building that is not only great for strengthening collegial bonds but can benefit the community too!

We have lots of ways you and your company can get involved:

• Hosting virtual events
• Sponsorship programs
• Seasonal programming
• Raising awareness

Join our Board of Directors

The KFC Board of Directors is a dedicated team of volunteer leaders from both nonprofit and for-profit sectors who are deeply committed to our mission.

We strive to alleviate food insecurity in the Kanata community. Serving on our Board is an extraordinary opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a difference.

Advocate

Get in touch with your city councillors and tell them how you appreciate their work fighting for the food assistance programs our communities need. Have a conversation about the systemic, policy, and societal changes that are needed to solve food security challenges.
