Kanata Food Cupboard
Volunteering Opportunities

Please email or telephone the Volunteer Coordinator to offer your assistance and allow us
the opportunity to anticipate the number of volunteers who will come!

A)  Tuesday Evening (7:00-8:00pm) lifting boxes of food (high school students encouraged
to volunteer with a parent who may provide transport to a nearby storage facility.  Adults with
van, SUV, station wagon or truck needed.

B)  Wednesday Morning weekly sort, shelve, packing of donations (9:00-Noon)

C)  Cleaning Last Saturday of the month (9:
00-11:00AM) dusting, cleaning, and organizing
of the Food Cupboard.  Excellent student opportunity.

D)  Stittsville Bakery bread pick-ups Thursdays at 5:40PM and Sundays at 2:40PM (1 hour
total time)

E)  Donation pick-ups from 6 Supermarkets Monday and Friday morning

F)  Special events:  driving to pick up food drives at local businesses, schools, and
community organizations throughout the year; soliciting auction donations for the Food For
Thought event in mid-November; Canada Day event participation, etc.

G) Evening opportunities to sort donations available in late November until mid December

H) Casual driving - we always need back-up drivers who we can call or email to help out

Evening distribution to clients
This activity is managed each week by one of six founding church groups who recruit
volunteers from within their congregation and are experienced with direct community
assistance.  For other evening opportunities see A), F), and H) and E).  Sorting in the
evening will occur late November until mid December roughly two nights per week.  Dates will
be posted closer to our Christmas Depot operations.
