Volunteering Opportunity at Kanata Farmers’ Market

Are you looking to accumulate volunteer hours for employment or post-secondary education purposes? Perhaps you’re looking to volunteer while being able to enjoy the outdoors?

The Kanata Food Cupboard is looking for an adult to volunteer at the Kanata Farmers’ Market (420 Hazeldean Rd.) every Saturday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. until the end of August (July 30th, August 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th).

Every Saturday, the volunteer would be responsible for the following…

–setting up a table, chair, canopy, and other necessary items at the Kanata Food Cupboard designated market area;
–positioning Kanata Food Cupboard signage and promotional material to maximize awareness of the organization;
–answering questions market attendees may have about the Kanata Food Cupboard;
–collecting monetary and fresh food donations that are received from market shoppers and thanking the shoppers for their donations;
–taking down/tearing down the canopy, table and other items; returning all donations to the Kanata Food Cupboard location at 20 Young Rd. (in St. Paul’s Anglican Church).

Christmas Adopt-a-Family program

Please note that the adopt-a-family program has closed for this year. If you would like to help a family by purchasing gifts or other items, please contact our Client Coordinator.

School Supplies Needed

The Kanata Food Cupboard is looking for donations of the following school supplies to support this year’s ‘Back to School’ Campaign:

- backpacks
- scientific calculators
- combination locks
- markers
- pencil crayons
- math sets
- duo-tangs
- pencil cases
- dictionaries

School supplies can be dropped off at the Kanata Food Cupboard warehouse (340 Legget Drive, Unit #46) weekday mornings between 9am-12pm. Supplies can also be placed in the Kanata Food Cupboard metal collection bins at the various grocery stores in Kanata (all stores except Farm Boy).

Volunteer needed for Kanata Farmers’ Market

Are you a college or university student that needs volunteer hours for your post-secondary education? Are you an adult that requires volunteer hours for prospective employment? Perhaps you’re just looking to make a difference in your community?

The Kanata Food Cupboard is looking for an adult to spend their Saturdays at the Kanata Farmer’s Market for the month of August. The volunteer would be responsible for thanking market shoppers for any monetary and perishable food donations that they bring to our booth. The volunteer would also be responsible for setting up the booth area at the start of the day, dismantling the booth area, and bringing the monetary and food donations to our church location at the end of the day. Market hours are 8am-3pm.

A canopy is provided for coverage from the sun.

A valid driver’s licence and car is required.

This year’s Investors Group Ottawa-Kanata Golf Tournament raised more than $20,000 for the Kanata Food Cupboard! Thank you to the organizing committee, all volunteers, and everyone who contributed to the day.

The donated funds will help to support Kanata families in need.

Summer Student Employment Position
